Your words were found and I ate them. And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.

Jeremiah 15:16

When I am down, when I am grieving, when I am in distress, I find your words. And I meditate on them. And I eat them. And they become the balm to my soul.

In the midst of my despair, I cry out to you, and there you are with me! You speak to me with your words and I hear you. For you have rescued me and you call me by my name!

Then, when I am happy, when I am celebrating, when I have joy, again I find your words. And I meditate on them. And I eat them. And they become the celebration of my soul.

When I am in awe, when I praise, when I worship, I also find your words. And I speak them aloud. And I eat them. And they are the salvation of my soul.

Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing, I find your words. And I eat them. And they become the joy and delight of my heart! For you created me, oh God. You see me and hear me, and know me intimately – and yet you ever love me!

I am his and he is mine.

But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. Isaiah 43:1 MSG

Do you know that you are his Beloved? You are! Find his words and eat them. Digest them. Let them rescue you. For he sees you in all your flawed and anxious glory and yet he loves you still! Completely, unconditionally. Just as you are. He’s calling you by your name, softly, tenderly. Will you answer him? Will you find his words and eat them? Will you be his? He is tenderly waiting for you.

I am his and he is mine.
